Desalination, or the removal of salt from water, can be used to produce drinkable water from seawater or brackish water.
It can be used to remove many impurities, because just the water is evaporated and dissolved solids are left behind. The pump is used as a pre-pump for desalinating water. A lot of power and sailboats have desalination capabilities aboard their boat.
The 8000 series diaphragm pump is the most widely used Shurflo industrial pump. With spherically shaped valves these pumps deliver consistent, dependable operation and priming. They can be mounted in any position, and are designed for easy maintenance. The 8000 series pumps are self priming. Horizontal and vertical prime vary depending on the fluid viscosity and pump configuration. ,

Answer:There is not a spec that I can find. It is fairly quite with some reverberation noise through the tank, but it has a low frequency hum and with a level comparable to a cordless drill.
